Three Guildrun heroes bursting out of a rift — a masked assassin, an archer mid-leap, and a mage raising a staff.

Break the class.
Break the game.

Turn a backline healer into a frontline tank. Draft, level, respec, and build comps that shouldn't exist. It's PvE only — so no meta ever tells you no.

“Holy mother of buzzwords.”

— an actual Guildrun demo review on Steam

Turn-based. PvE. Autobattler. Roguelike. Deckbuilder. It really is all five. That same reviewer kept playing — and left it Very Positive. Press play and it stops sounding like a salad.

The healer tanks now.

Every hero starts with a class. None of them have to keep it. Modifiers stack across classes, so you can drag a backline healer to the front and build her as a tank — and the game just lets you.

Your problem now
Guildrun's draft screen: hero cards tagged with class modifiers like CRIT and MAGE, ready to be stacked.

There is no meta to lose to.

The only thing you're solving is the game.

  • Ranked ladders nobody above you on a list
  • Tier lists no opponent has read one
  • Nerf patches nothing gets nerfed for beating somebody else
  • PvP never on the roadmap — and it isn't coming
  • Your 2am build stays yours — and two-player co-op is in development now

“PvE instead of PvP means you have a lot more build freedom, because you're not locked into meta builds to compete with other players going meta builds.”

Twenty-five heroes. None of them safe.

Draft them, level them, respec them, and shove them somewhere they were never meant to go. Rank two identical heroes together and start again, higher.

It came out of nowhere.

Guildrun was announced on 16 July 2026. Within forty-eight hours three of the biggest roguelike channels had covered it — roughly 170,000 views between them, before anyone had run a single ad.

Leyline's lead designer came from Hearthstone, then The Bazaar. The rest of the team came from Riot, Blizzard, Konami and EA. Guildrun is the first thing they've built together — out of Die Gamerei in Munich, backed by Bavarian and German federal games funding.

Every frame of this is hand-painted.

Kathi and Dewi have painted Guildrun by hand since before it had a Steam page. No generative AI — not in the art, not anywhere. They say it out loud because this is a style AI keeps trying to copy.

The demo is free, and it's a big one. If it lands, wishlisting is what tells Steam to put the full game in front of people like you.

3,830 people are already arguing about builds.

Guildrun ships a patch every week, and the notes mark which changes came from the community with a star. The alpha had 3,000 testers before there was a Steam page. That's not a marketing line — it's how the game gets made.
