FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Short answers, no hedging. If something's missing, the Discord is the fastest way to get it answered by the people making the game.
What is Guildrun, in one sentence?
A PvE autobattler roguelike: draft a team of heroes, break them out of their classes, and crush waves of monsters on a hex grid. Runs are short and there's no timer.
Is it free?
The demo is free and it's substantial — 25 heroes, 300+ relics, 100+ items, 8 difficulties. The full game will be a premium, one-time purchase. No microtransactions, no ads, no battle pass.
Is there PvP?
No, and there won't be. PvE is the point — it's what gives you build freedom without a tier list telling you which comps are allowed. Two-player co-op is in development.
Is any of the art AI-generated?
No. All of it is hand-painted by our artists Kathi and Dewi, who've been on the game since before it had a Steam page. Guildrun's style is unfortunately one a lot of AI tries to replicate, which sucks a bit — so we say this plainly rather than leaving it ambiguous.
What inspired it?
Teamfight Tactics and Slay the Spire helped shape our thinking around strategy, progression, and replayability. Guildrun is shorter and more forgiving of your time than either.
Can I play on Steam Deck or with a controller?
The Deck works, but it isn't officially supported yet and there's no controller support. Both are on the list.
When does it come out?
Leyline to confirm There are three different answers in public right now — Steam says “To be announced”, this FAQ previously said 2027, and the press release said late 2026. Pick one and it goes here.
How do I get involved?
Join the Discord. We ship a patch every week and mark community-driven changes with a star in the notes. The alpha had 3,000 testers shaping the game before launch and that hasn't stopped.
